Anyone else thinking we pay too much for tyres?

I don't know if you read my post properly, but I was trying to indicate the typical price bands that exist (and why) and representative tyres rather than an exhaustive reference of cheapest prices found for each tyre.Aspire not to have more, but to be more.0 -

Whatever!..... if I'm not reading your posts properly, you aren't reading my posts properly either! Indeed - £46 a pair is not the same as £25 to £30 each; it is £4 - £14 cheaper. That is the point I was making. Ultremos, a top rated tyre, can be had for less than your band for middling tyres; there's really no need to pay over £30 each. I was just making a point that's all. I wasn't suggesting that you were undertaking exhaustive research - just that your suggested prices were on the high side for a quick internet search. Honestly, you really don't need to be so defensive! Is that ok?
Incidentally, I reckon my City Jets (fat MTB ones) are probably on over 5000 miles now. I probably should swap them round soon though as the rear won't last many more thousand if it stays on the rear!Faster than a tent.......0 -

Ooooh dear. I'll try to explain it. You said that you'd have to pay more than £30 for premium tyres (I assume that is what you meant by middling tyres being £25 to £30).
I said, you can do better than that. I said you can get a pair of Ultremos for £46 or so.
You then said that £46 isn't the same as £25-£30 each. I pointed out that indeed it wasn't - it was cheaper. You failed to understand that post and then posted a price list for Ultremos showing (without an exhaustive search as you implied) that you can get an Ultremo for £23 as I said in the first place thus confirming my point that your suggested cost was a bit pessimistic. It's pretty straightforward. Sorry for confusing you but I was just trying to make a simple point which you've helpfully confirmed with the links.
PS - I was merely trying to help the OP by pointing out that the prices of premium tyres is a bit less than you were suggesting. It wasn't meant to be an attack on your tyre pricing knowledge!Faster than a tent.......0
