I did search and couldnt see it. If you're just staying over for a night before an event, will they let you take the bike to the room? Dont really want to leave it outside in a busy city centre.

I have never been refused by a hotel to take a bike into a room. Used Travel Lodge and Premier Inn with no issue. If I have a choice, I choose Premier Inn - their beds are ace,.

I arrived in Portsmouth after cycling from London. I was filthy in a mixture of sunscreen and road dust.

They didn't bat an eye as I wheeled my bike off to the room.
  • both are pretty used to workman emptying thier vans of tools, ladders and mucky gear so i dont think you'll have any issues

I kept my bike in my room in the Premier Inn ahead of the Dragon Ride last year, no problems but it's probably worth checking first.

Thing with things like this is that you never know if the person on the desk when you arrive will take the same view as the person you spoke to on the phone a few weeks before.

Apart from the obvious "give them a call", I expect you'll be fine. I've never had a problem (in either chain).

If they say no then buy a cheap bike bag and simply take the bike in dismantled in the bag. If they say no to a big bag then they're not really aware of who their customers are!
  • I never had a problem with Etap and Ibis hotels have turn many time with my bike and they always had a safe area for it. The staff at the Ibis in Portsmouth was very helpful they kept my bags safe as I went out for ride before my train.

Apparently costs more for your dog to stay in the room with you than the total cost of the room. Not that you will have a dog with you... necessarily..
