Hello

Can anyone recommend a cheap and waterproof video camera. I suspect the two will be mutually exclusive.

Also it should preferably be helmet mounted.

  • I can recommend the search box, its not a new question you're asking....

MD80 clone here however, comes with plenty of mounting options

The MD80 itself isn't waterproof, but people have waterproofed them with clingfilm

Personally I think that the price is the least important thing if you might have to rely on it in court for evidence one day. To me that is something that shouldn't be skimped on.

For that reason I use a ContourHD 1080p + waterproof case.

Add to that the growing consensus is to have a rear facing cam too...

Muvi clones are fine sometimes, but if you need detail, plates and night recording you need to budget.

I also encourage all new headcammers that they should link any video in with the CTC's stopSMIDSY campaign (use youtube to host, bearing in mind you may need to remone one or two troll comments now and again). Also use the cam to record and promote the good side of cycling too.

It's virtually waterproof already unless your going to submerse it in water, I have stopped using my waterproof case and had no problems, even in heavy downpours.

Unfortunately, in my opinion, the rear camera is essential.
