I've just received an Ultegra 6700 cassette I bought from Ebay.
Its the first 6700 cassette I've seen but the colouring looks a bit iffy. The first (1-5) sprockets look fine as and you would expect. The bottom 5 (6-10) look discoloured like they have been heat treated and have got that rainbow effect. The thing is its not uniform all the way around.
The packaging was also a little suspect as it came in a shrink wrapped bag.
Anyone got a 6700 cassette that looks like this?

Here is the cassette Shimano%20Ultegra%20cassette.jpg

I've got an identical, brand new, 11-25 6700 sitting in front of me and it looks the same. The colour is uniform among all the cogs though but I have seen some Shimano 6700 clusters to have two tone colouring. Yours appear to have all the proper markings and tooth configurations. I doubt there are any counterfeit 6700 clusters around that look that good as the cost to imitate would be almost as much as the original. Install and enjoy.

    Cheers for that.
It just looks strange to me.I work in the trade too and see 100's but never like this.
Price wise it was cheaper than i could buy at trade from Madison the UK importer.
I suppose I should have changed the title to "seconds" rather than fake.

I've got a couple myself and look the same. Expect you'll find it's OEM, hence cheap price and unusual packaging. I get mine from Ribble and indeed for a ridiculous price. Have had it suggested that they are products from European sources, hence why it's below Madison's price.

I would be suspicious of the seconds as well except for the fact that I just recieved a cluster with 2 of the same size cogs in the stack which is the first defective Shimano part I have ever seen in about 35 years. Well, Shimano wanted it back and went through a process worthy of a secret nuclear weapons recovery. My guess is they destroy and bury substandard parts and guard them with castrated Shinto warriors.
