With better weather just around the corner a young mans thoughts naturally turn to which brands are the best dry wax lubes? I've tried Squirt, is there anything better out there?

Thanks

  • I generally use Finish Line croos country (green bottle), especially with the crap weather we've had of late, however just started using pro link again.

Not as quiet as the FL, but not bad. Goes on like a liquid and really easy to clean the chain.

I won't use anything else but them now.

I'm not generally a fan of wax lubes, but was recommended rock 'n roll extreme lube recently for this wet / mucky weather. It goes on like a dry lube but contains a waxy element.

Seems to have performed far better than FL wet lube from recent rides, chain still silver and not black after 3 hour rides!

For drier weather I agree with Marin Maniac - Pro LInk gold is simply the best.

I'll second that certainly, used to use Finish Line green (leftover from my mtb days)
  • Been using Rock n Roll Gold all winter and will be using it all summer.

    I have a happy drivechain!

For dry wax I've tried lots but my current fav is Muc Off Dry. Wouldn't use it in the winter though. Doesn't get manky unlike some that claim to be clean!

  • Been using up my reserves of Finish Line wet,but find it attracts lots of dirt unless applied sparingly.

Tried squirt, but found it needed reapplying regularly though a lot cleaner than Finishline.

I find Squirt much better than any of the finish line lubes all of which are terrible for attack dirt.

+1 for Rock n Roll Gold lube, even on 80mile plus winter rides it has been very good, used it for over 2 years now and tried about 8 other brands but nothing is as clean as this stuff. Have 2 big bottles of White lightning wax lube sitting but won't ever go back to it.

+1 for Krytech, it's great in dry weather. I use finishline Cross Country in the winter, but I find it's too sticky for dummer use, even if used sparingly.
