I need a carbon seatpost for my Focus Izalco Expert but have never owned one.
Things to look out for, any tips, advice, suggestions, or indeed, if anyone has a very nice one they might like to offload, please write. Bling factor a bonus but not as essential as comfort.
Scanned fleabay and came up with this rather attractive one.

Anyone know anything about this Merek brand? They're Taiwanese, which is where much of the good carbon stuff originates, but must admit to never having heard of them!
Also heard a lot of positive noise about the Spesh ones with Zertz inserts. Any experiences out there that corroborate this?
Thank you in advance o wise cycling gurus...!!

Depends on what your priorities are: weight, stiffness, flexibility, aesthetics, price?
I recently swapped an FSA K-Force for an Easton EC90 - the FSA is a heavy, unforgiving lump in comparison.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0 -
Specialized Pave.Smarter than the average bear.0

I'm a light rider at 5'9" and 63kgs so I don't require massive stiffness.
Comfort is king for me, closely followed by price, with weight and aesthetics bringing up the rear.
So there are noticeable diffs between even carbon posts, as opposed to just al v carbon?
Something else that's puzzing me...what's the deal with lay/set back posts? Are they supposed to be more comfortable or is it just a space/sizing issue..?

Can't go wrong with 3T***** Pro Tour Pundit Champion 2020, 2018, 2017 & 2011 *****0

Another thumbs up for the Spesh Pave from me. Now got two. Bought first one to introduce a little more comfort to my alu Boardman Road Team. Together with a pair of Conti Grand Prix 24mm tyres (and probably some better bib shorts) it worked a treat!
Also influenced the decision to go for a 2010 Roubaix as I think the ride is way smoother than the Boardman. Can't say how much is down to the Zertz inserts, but I reckon they help a lot...Titus Silk Road Ti rigid 29er - Scott Solace 10 disc - Kinesis Crosslight Pro6 disc - Scott CR1 SL - Pinnacle Arkose X 650b - Pinnacle Arkose singlespeed - Specialized Singlecross...& an Ernie Ball Musicman Stingray 4 string...0 -
Deda SuperZero 27.2 I have is great, beautifully finished, good clamp mechanism0

The difference in set back seat posts vs. straight is not only a spacing issue: a straight post is only loaded in compression whereas a set back post is loaded in bending as well, which should result in better comfort. And of course, they look way cooler than straight posts
I use Deda seat posts: Black Stick is comfortable and very light, but the clamping mechanism isn't ideal. The SuperZero's is a lot better and that post looks fantastic too, but it's quite pricy....0 -
Got my first Pave off ebay so was very modestly priced! Second came as stock on the Roubaix. Not sure what seatpost dia you need on the Focus, but I think Spesh only work in 27.2mm?Titus Silk Road Ti rigid 29er - Scott Solace 10 disc - Kinesis Crosslight Pro6 disc - Scott CR1 SL - Pinnacle Arkose X 650b - Pinnacle Arkose singlespeed - Specialized Singlecross...& an Ernie Ball Musicman Stingray 4 string...0

A recent C+ test rated the Spesh Pave and Pro Vibe monocoque (9/10) and 3T Palladio (8/10)
I've had the Pave and liked itFacts are meaningless, you can use facts to prove anything that's remotely true! - Homer0 -

Ritchey do a good carbon seatpost at 27.2mm and offer the choice of straight or with set-back of either 25mm or even one at 45mm.
Can vouch for this one on my Canyon.
