How soon can I get back on my bike?

I had an accident on 6th December and injured my back.

I went to see ostopath and have been every week since, she said my pelvis was slightly out of elinment and I had ligament and soft tissue damage. Pelvis is fine now!

I would say I feel about 90% right again after 2 months, just a bit sore if walking for say more than 2 hours.

She feels I should stay off the bike until end of February.

However I am itching to get back on, any advise about riding after back injury would be helpful.

Thanks

Have you got a turbo? If you do then try a gentle spin on that and see how you feel afterwards, if OK then build it up gradually

If not then try a flatish run on your bike and see how you feel

If you have been given exercises as part of your rehab... do them. I had an op at the tail end of last year, thought I didn't need them. Now I'm fighting to get a full range of movement. :)
Why tidy the house when you can clean your bike?

I'd think about it like this - how can I get back to cycling but not carry an injury/problem to the grave. If that means waiting a bit then I'd listen to your doc

I had a knee problem and waited too long to get physio and went back to work etc too early - regretted it ever since

if you re-injure yourself, you're just going to be off the bike even longer.

I had a work related accident back in December. Fractured a rib or two and shafted a rotor cuff in my shoulder and have just been turning the pedals on the turbo in the past three weeks. Listen to your body and advice from the Dr's
