Nice bike anyway, looks a bit too clean there though0 -
Not too bad man, had the 2010 version o fthat bike up until a few months ago, and was very good for the price!0
-
yeah it was just local footpaths, did a couple of miles around the local area to get used to it to allow things to bed in a bit, ie brakes and my arse!!
Nearest trail centre for me will be PORC, but I have the North Downs Way and Pilgrims Way right on my doorstep.0 -
Out bvy the lakes, gloves in hoody, im not that fat lol
Dirty picure
Few new parts fitted
Hope QR Seatclamp
Hope QR Skewers
Fizik Gobi Saddle
Cube chainstay protector
Got a Hope stem on order to match the red/black theme as well as some Hope brake discs. Anything else I can change to improve overal aesthetics? Had mudguards on but I didnt like the look of them...
All comments welcome

How about things to improve the actual performance of the bike, rather than aesthetics?!
Pedals for instance...0 -

Or how about he changes the things he wants to on his bike?
Great looking ride man, if I was gonna go back to a hardtail I reckon Cube would get my money.0 -
nice bike and NICE SOCKS!!!0
-
Well done for spotting the socks!!!!
As for pedals, I am thinking of venturing into a clipless setup. I have really wide feet so fancy the Five Ten Minaar shoes and on Stif at the moment you can get them with Syncros AM pedals or another set for 110 quid.0 -
ha ha.. the old gloves in hoody line..... I usually use "I had beach ball and chips for lunch" !!!
sweet bike though, do like Cube I have to say.
as for upgrade/changes... at the moment, it's fine imo, apart from changing contact points.. grips.seat,tyres... other changes can happen when "needed" just get out and have fun.
Enjoy mate.
** have to say, nice socks... taking the adding red styling to another level... !!!..................................................................................................

Hope discs I got on eBay are no good as I have discs that fit onto the hub via a center lock thing so they are up for sale in the classifieds.
Managed to get a brand new Hope Eternity seatpost for 30 squid on eBay aswell which should turn up today.
Also bidding on a pair of folding Nobby Nic Evo's, are they any good? I have Schwalbe Rapid Rob performance on at the moment which I cant find anywhere but were supplied on the bike and they dont seem to have much grip on slightly damp trails.
Whats a good flat pedal to upgrade to??? Not quite ready for clipless!0 -
For flat pedals you can't go wrong with Wellgo Mag pedals, or Superstar look good, lots of colour options too.Carbon 456 http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtop ... t=12754782

What about grips? Whats a good brand or style to go with? The Cube grips on mine have white bits on that have gone very grubby.0

Check superstarcomponents.co.uk
They offer lots of different colour options, and are very reasonably priced.
Also as far as the centre lock rotors you have, you can buy an adaptor to get those rotors to fit on a normal 6bolt hub0 -
-
Can I get an adapter to allow fitting of 'normal' discs to center lock hubs0
-
Just did a quick 10 mile hack round the local lakes, first time I've been out properly on the new saddle and its bllody awesome!!
Looking at pedals and grips now and still waiting on the Hope seatpost and stem and Nobby Nic Evos to turn up so I can fit them and then take a drive to Bedgebury to have a go round their red route at the weekend.0 -
whats the weight??0

Look 2 posts above what I posted. I posted the answer to your question.0 -
Couple of new bits arrived yesterday

Fitted stem and pedals
The original Easton stem protruded about 2mm over the steerer but the Hope one protrudes a tiny bit more, this would easily be sorted with a smaller spacer but I wanted to know whether it was dangerous or not?
Still waiting on new tyres (Nobby Nic Evos) and the Hope seatpost to be delivered from being posted on the 2nd!!! Damn Royal Mail.
Comments and advice always appreciated

Seatpost arrived so quickly fitted the Gobi on top and took it for a spin with the new bits and pieces. Together with the shorter stem and straight post I instantly felt more comfortable and the steering responds much quicker.
Waiting on new grips and better tyres, had to get off on a steepish muddy climb because the rear was slipping and spinning bad, is this down to technique as well as pants standard fit rubber?0 -
Very nice looking bike you've got there! I do like Cubes, that could be because I own one of course
Are the Tyres the Schwalbe ones that come with the bike? Lots of people don't get on with them, I don't mind them at the moment. Slipping and spinning in muddy climbs could be tyres, could be technique and could just be the mud.
Grippier tyres may well just get that little more traction, getting you up the hill. Putting weight over your rear wheel (by either sitting, or leaning back a bit) may get the wheel to cut through the mud better. Some mud though, no matter what tyre or what technique, the trail pixies want you to walk up *shakes fist at Trail Pixies*It takes as much courage to have tried and failed as it does to have tried and succeeded.

Blender Cube AMS Pro0 -
They are the standard fit ones yes, I have a set of Schwalbe Nobby Nic Evos in the post so will give them a try, the mud I was riding was not even that wet!
Getting on really well with the bike aswell, bit of a Hope fanboy hence the new parts but whats wrong with a little bling!!0 -
Superstar lockable grips and Hope stem spacers fitted tonight, got a Hope head doctor aswell because I dont like the old black top cap on my shiney new stem but have no idea how to fit it. How do I remove the star shaped washer to allow fitment of the new head doctor?
STILL waiting on the new tyres!0 -
This link should help with the Star Fangled Nut
http://www.parktool.com/blog/repair-help/star-fangled-nut-installation
I bet you notice a diffrence with the Nobby Nic Evos0 -
Lovely cheers mate, I take it that my headset is threadless (FSA Integrated is the only info I have) as there is definitely a star nut in the steerer???0
