double front mech compatabilty

Got a shimano XT crankset with the large ring removed and bash installed.
I need a front mech but as i run a double at front now will the shimano SLX front mech M667 work, what concerns me is the 46.8mm chainline mentioned?
Is the chainline just the way its measured with a double.

    Use you current mech and screw the H limit screw in. job done.

    Yep been doing that with current set up.
    But front mech is on the way out so thought since replacing i would upgrade to a double specific mech.
    So would the shimano 667 work with my XT crankset?

    Yes but going from XT to SLX is a downgrade.

    sorry my mech is 2004 LX
    Cranks are 2010 XT
    SLX mech definately upgrade
    so will the 46.8mm chainline affect anything?
