Broken Avid Elixir R ?

Yet another thing to stop me getting a damn ride today.

Decided to finally shorten the brake hoses on my Elixir R brakes.

All was well and they were refitted with the correct barb, olive and nut.

Bled the front one and was just doing the lever when on the sixth squeeze on the lever it made a snap sound and went straight to the bar. Taking the lever apart and all seems well, but the plunger dissapears into the body of the lever.

No amount of bleeding or attemps of putting more fluid in to push the lever back out work.

All that happens is oil is forced out of the barb on the syringe although this is after a lot of force applied to the opposite syringe.

Does anybody have any knowledge of these brakes and what I can do to clarify anything.

Not sure how to take the lever body apart any further than taking the lever off and out, but it must be possible to replace seals etc.

Any help would be appreciated before I bin the things and buy something else.

An update to my own thread.

After a cup of tea and a cool down I had a look on the tinterweb and found the dealer take apart instructions.

A few minutes later and I had the valve assembly out of the lever and found a split o ring and white plastic ring.

The whole thing looks a little worse for wear so will see how much a valve assembly is and go from there :)
