Right, I'm thinking of replacing my S1 as after a year of riding I'm beginning to think it's a little too small. I'm 5'9 but my problem is that I have pretty long femurs so my inside leg is 33" and the relative shortness of my torso means my reach is a little shorter than most.

I'm also getting older and although I love the fact the S1 puts you in a position where you just have to thrash it I'm not sure how long I'll be able to maintain that position, particularly for long rides

Anyway, the S1 is a size 51 (tt 530mm, ht 120mm but with a couple of spacers) and I'm looking for something a little more relaxed.

Any recommendations of what to look at on a budget of up to £2,500 for a full bike (Ultegra / Force / Rival build, no Campag or DA / Red) or £1,000 for a frameset?
Mud - Genesis Vapour CCX
Race - Fuji Norcom Straight
Sun - Cervelo R3
Winter / Commute - Dolan ADX

imho get a full bike fit to determine ideal geometry for you, based on the type of riding you want to do, then get a custom frame to those measurements

Not really interested in another steel frame, I've already got two others (one a custom fixed frame) and custom Ti doesn't fall into my price range.

I'm looking for recommendations I can investigate since when I go for test rides not all shops stock all makes.

IIURC the recent BikeRadar review of the Scott CR-1 said it was tall and short which sounds appropriate for your dimensions?

I got a custom Ti from Burls, £1200 frame and Ti fork, built it up as a tourer for a total of £2100 (approx).

this included hope mtb hubs, home build wheels and touring/mtb chainset, downtube shifters, avid bb7 road cable disk brakes.

my wife's was about £200 more with shimano STI shifters
