Just picked up a really nice giant reign 2nd hand but the rear gear selector works in reverse ie when you shift to change up it changes down on the rear cassette, is this a simple case of the cable being connected wrong? They are deore shifters from 2005

    it's called rapid rise

It's normal for it to do that

Want to change back to the other 'normal' way, that's a new rear mech.

rapid rise is a nice idea , but awkward . pitty they couldn't work it like campag shifters on road bikes

I had rapid rise on the commuter, and yes it causes a lot of confusion when going from one bike to another, a new rear mech of conventional rise will have both working the same, I gave the RR to the wife who's bike is on twisters anyway!
