Shoe advice

I have a 5-6 yr old pair of specialized road shoes which I never really felt happy with, I am now looking for something better quality (paid about £65-70 for spesh) because of my less than great experience with BG shoes Im a bit put off, I have tried on some new spesh shoes and I must admit the Boa system feels great but the heel still feels a bit loose, althouth this is hard to evaluate in a shop !!!! People have suggested SIDI but the prices are a bit heavy, I have narrow feet and smallish ankles so I need something that will close up but not strangle my foot in doing so. Any other suggestions???
Is the Boa system better than the ratchet, spesh seem to swap between the two, pro with ratchet and s-works with boa??? and the same as you go down the range surely one is better than the other.
I have shimano winter mtb boots and a lovely pair of scott carbon xc summer shoes both are great but Im not taken with the shimano road stuff and scott dont appear to do them anymore......shame!
Cheers
Hope you can give some advice to keep my feet happy !!!!

I'm coming to the conclusion that the only way to buy shoes is to visit a shop and try them on.
The fittings seem to vary hugely between different brands and shoes. The next pair of shoes I get, I'll wear them for a month and if I got a good fit - think I'll just order a couple more pairs online - as they become discontinued by the time you need a new pair.Simon0 -
I purchased a pair of 2011 spesh comp road shoe about £100 there white with the dial. They are without a doubt the best bit of kit ive ever purchased!! seriously comfy shoe and the dial thingy is fantastic. I am a size 10-11 small ankles too and with other shoes getting them tight used to give me pins and needles in lower foot, none of this with these shoes.
when in the shop the guy said that they come up very large so i would go and try dont buy over the net.
