have just bought a 2011 specialized tarmac with fulcrum 4's, have ridden it once and is great, no issues with the fulcrums, but i'm tempted by the mavic wheels. going to be attempting some racing this year and sportives.

wondering if the mavics are a worthwhile upgrade or not? wud i notice any difference etc?

thanks

Fulcrum 3 are okay - nowhere even close to the mavic sl wheel. The sl wheels are much stiffer, more durable, look nicer(big plus) and would be better for sportives. I've had both sets of wheels and there good but I had lots of problems with my fulcrums.

Buy the SL's for sportives, keep Fulcrums for lesser duties :) Good second set of wheels is always useful
  • thanks for the advice, think i'll buy the mavics before the summer.
