Hey Guys
I was wondering if you could help me, i'm putting together a custom Top fuel 9.9 and instead of the Shimano XTR i want to go with the Sram XX Groupset.
I have a 19.5" Top Fuel 9.9 SSL 2011 Frameset and was wondering which Sram XX crankset/BB combination would best go with this frame?

Plus what is meant by "164mm Q factor" and "156mm Q factor" when talking about the BB30 cranksets?

Of course this is all assuming that the frame is compatible with these BB's, Please correct me if i'm wrong.

Thanks in advance for your help
Paul

Q factor the width between where the pedals join.

You need the standard GXP chainset, but you can't use the GXP cups, you need the SRAM BB90 BB from Trek - which is just 2 bearings, one's got a slightly odd flange arrangement. That's the same with any chainset, you'll have to get the BB assembly from Trek.

I can't remember if you can get away with the narrow Q-Factor cranks, with many frames there's not enough clearance. I'd ask Trek, although I've a feeling my 2010 one did have the narrower cranks.

You're presumably aware that XTR cranks are lighter, although I think the ratios are slightly better on the XX, being wider. I got some chainsuck problems with XX on my 2010 Fuel, XTR on the 2011 seems better, although I'm going single ring, so hopefully it won't be an issue at all.

Trek emailed me back and informed me i need the following part number bearings kit #415734 but i can't find it online anywhere, i take it it's a trek only part?

i'll ask them too about the q-factor on the frame

to be honest i just prefer the Sram i know the shifts are quite similar but i want to keep it all sram xx with the brakes, shifters and world cup fork and then have the MatchmakerX clamp on keep the handlebar layout simple.
plus i'm not a fan of the metal look of the XTR i'm still stuck on the carbon look

with regards to Front Derailleurs, there are 3 options... Direct Mount, Low Clamp and High Clamp
i take it High clamp would be the one to go with? would you know which clamp size fits the top fuel?

    thanks again for your help
