hi all, looking at buying a new hydration pack as im getting fed up with my quite big rucksack as i dont need all the space, just been on crc and quite like the look off the new lobo 2011 whats you"re thoughs?

Comments

  • how big is your existing pack? how small are you talking? I find my Mule just about perfect for everything, be it few hour blasts or all dayers without any noticable discomfort.

tbh the rucksack is overkill and only fastends round the chest and not waist so lifts up on jumps etc wich is annoying just need enough space for the usuall tube, levers, flapjack etc
  • CamelBak Octane 18x Hydration System

    got one- highly ecommended

I've had a Lobo for a couple of years now. It's the perfect size for a summer day out, even when I seem to be the designated pack-horse on group rides. Even in winter you can force quite a lot of stuff into it if you're creative. I've only used my Mule a couple of times since I got the Lobo, it's just pointlessly large for most things.

    Edit:

Get the Lobo, it'll be perfect. Or some other brand, in a similar size.
  • Another vote for the octane 18x, can vary the capacity with the front bellows zip too. Got mine for £35 from cyclestore.

    +1 for the lobo.

Ive got one and its really lightweight, holds lots of water, has plenty of room for pumps, tools etc and was dirt cheap from merlin cycles.
  • I got myself a Camelbak Consigliere in black/red £29.99 from cyclestore, free postage if you spend over £30.00 8)

    Hydration: 2.0 litres
    Total capacity: 9.8 litres

    Product ID: 24027

it's just the right size for me

check out a review here http://www.jeffsreviews.com/Articles/household%20apr2010-/consigliere.html
  • I've got this in red:

    http://www.shop-outdoors.co.uk/gelert-h ... ksack.html

For under £20 it holds 2 litres of water and lots of space for gear etc.

Comes with two horizontal straps - one across your stomach and one across your chest.

Very supportive, secure and light. I forget it's on my back half the time and I pack heavy!
  • I've got an oakley toolbox, it is big but packs down quite small when the compression straps/body armour straps are used. It's perfect for me because I can fit in all my schoolstuff and the stuff for the commute and then at the weekends it's my hydration pak and comes with a 3l bladder, perfect for summer. Hell, I'm drinking over 1l of water even in this weather.

ive got a mule, and its a good middle sized pack, not to small or big, just right for most rides. what ever you decide make sure its camelbak, most bladders that come with other makes are just rubbish

I can't agree with that, the one that came with mine (made by hydrapak) is strong, its quick to fill, the hose disconnects quickly and easily and its big enough for a day out. though you did say 'most'

You've obviously never used a dakine bag.

How can anything (bag) be pointlessly large for most things?

Mule is what I have and is ideal - comes with 3L BUT if I don't need 3 litre of water I don't fill it up! If I don't need all day stuff then I don't put it in bag. I find it ideal! It is not pointlessly small though.....
