ok call me crazy but i'm thinking of building up a retro kirk just for the hell of it. Now it used a custom front mech but could I get away with an E-type front mech ? i can't see why not as it would only move out the BB shell like a chain device .

wish me luck if I do try it .

    Sure if it clears. and look at some of the direct mount mechs.

    Had an e-type on the Daughters bike, was a PITA, in the end we fitted a normal mech using 1 31.8mm shim only to get it to fit OK.

    nope there are currently a whole crop of direct mount mechs out there.

    I cant remember how it was fitted on the kirk though so may be totally irrelevant.

    The mech was a band on mech that used an endless band.

    This is a Suntour mech of the same type, there is an XT mech on Ebay currently.
