Getting rid of gripshifts!!! Do I need a new derailleur

Morning all, quick question from a very amateur mechanic. I have an old GT with an Alivio 7 speed drivetrain, but its controlled by gripshifts which I really don't like so my question is this, if I buy some EZ fire 7 speed shifters will the pull be the same as it was for the gripshifts or do I need to buy new derailleurs as well?

Provided you stay with shimano shifters the derailleur will work fine

No need to change the derailleur, stick with what you've got and it will work fine

Make sure you get the right EZ fire shifters.Shimano made two types, one for cantilvers and one for v brakes.
