Is my Cassette knackard and will it ruin my new chain?
Ive just fitted a new Ultegra 10 Speed Chain to my bike.
Ive adjusted the indexing but it still doesnt shift down properly. (shifts up ok)
I think the cassette is worn from (from the previous chain).
I was just wandering if i continue to use the worn cassette will it ruin my new chain?
PS.
I also have another wheel with a virtualy brand new Ultegra 10 Speed Cassette and it seem to shift ok. (I did use the old chain with this cassette for about 100 miles.)
Thanks

best test for testing cassette wear is to test ride it, use new chain and put it under pressure, a worn sprocket will cause chain slip under load.
poor shifting is due to poor indexing set up, adjust cable tension0 -

+ 1 but could be dirty/worn cable also. Did you change the chain because of the poor downshifting?0 -
The latest version of the Ultegra chain is uni directional, have you got it on the right way round?Dolan Preffisio

Good point actually. However, when I fitted mine the wrong way it still shifted :oops:0
