Tektro Augriga Comp upgrade?

Never been impressed with these brakes on my Carrera Fury despite correct cleaning and adjustment. Front is 180 and rear 160... They just seem to lack power...
What would you recommend I do to upgrade existing setup or should I just invest in something better? Brakes have done 100 miles from new so far.

I guess they aren't broken in properly, I've ridden with those brakes 160/160 and found them to have ample power. Worth changing them anyway though, the lever blade design is horrible.0

Not blingy but still very good brakes. You'll have to spend a far bit to get any noticable performance increase. If they aren' t performing for you ether need bleeding, pads not bedded in or contaminated.0

service them
change the pads."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Yup, I've been using mine lately, they came off a £300 Carrera but they didn't feel out of place on a £1500 Ragley- I was pretty peeved when I got my XTs and discovered they weren't much better.
They're quite closely ripped off from Shimano I think, right down to using the same pads.Uncompromising extremist0 -
The only thing I don't like is the lever. They are fairly long and it isn't easy but it can be done :P
Maybe all Carrera riders should use the 5 finger death grip technique - fabulous for those times when you just want to stop fast enough to vault over the bars...0 -
I'm used to the brakes on my motorbike which are very powerful and sharp... I'm using two fingers on the MTB and if I pull them any harder worry about snapping something!
I think a pad change next... They shouldn't need service already with 100 miles on them but another clean won't hurt...

They may not have been bled correctly when you got the bike. Start from scratch, make sure the pistons are moving correctly, bleed them to make sure there isn't any air stuck in the system, put new pads in, clean the disc and then bed them in properly.0

Must be contaminated pads or need bleeding...
Mine with a 180mm rotor were strong enough to send me over the bars.0 -
My experience of them has been great too. Though I did suffer from, what sounds like, similar problems after getting the disc contaminated. Bleed and replace pads like everyone has said already. Just make sure you really clean everything before using the new pads.0

Yep, i thought they were powerful enough on my Mongoose Teocali. Now have a Stumpy FSR with Avid Elixirs which are better, but not way better...Do prefer the lever shape and reach adjust of the Avid's though. Try some disc brake cleaner (but don't inhale when you use it! )Titus Silk Road Ti rigid 29er - Scott Solace 10 disc - Kinesis Crosslight Pro6 disc - Scott CR1 SL - Pinnacle Arkose X 650b - Pinnacle Arkose singlespeed - Specialized Singlecross...& an Ernie Ball Musicman Stingray 4 string...0

My brakes are fine the only problem is the stock pads were crap so I changed to EBC green stuff pads and they have been great ever since. I don't have any problems with them other than they look like poo. You need to bleed them and clean and oil the piston from time to time other than that cant complain. They should be more than enough for a xc rig.0
