removing my forks, and have got the stem and everything off.
i'm guessing the little wedge in the bearings has to come out, but how?
i'm not able to get any purchase on it and can't fit a flathead in behind it to lever it out..

Pull the forks out then you'll be able to pull it out easily.
Are you saying the forks wont slide out?0 -

Knock the forks up from below with a rubber mallet (hitting the base of the crown, not the dropouts) often will loosen the wedge enough to get it out more easily.0
