My first road bike - 2011 Trek 2.1

Well I've been lurking around here for a few months now and finally took the plunge and picked up my first road bike last Saturday. Unfortunately since then we've had ice and now gale force winds so I haven't been able to put any miles through the wheels yet!
I'm completing a coast to coast in June and then I'd like to perhaps enter a sportive later in the year with the aim of getting a carbon bike in the next couple of years.
There is one quick question - I had to reset my Cateye as the time was wrong and when it asked me for my wheel size I entered one full rotation of the front wheel (700) and then the diameter of the wheel itself from the outside edge of the tyre to the opposite side (27) Is this correct or have I made the first of many mistakes?

Yep, wrong. In the instruction sheet that came with the Cateye, you'll find a table with the dimension you need. Just look at you're 700 wheels with 23/25 tyres?
700 and 23 is 2096 IIRC..

Thanks WW - I had a nagging feeling I'd made a mistake. Just looking at the Cateye instruction manual and the table at the back 700x23c (which is also on the Trek website) comes out at a ETRTO of 23-622 and an L (cm) of 210 - I'm guessing the 210 goes into the computer as per the instructions.
Thanks for the comment on the bike!0
