2x10 Questions

Hi all.

I know this has been covered on numerous different threads but can someone clarify a few things for me please:

I've recently bought the following:

XT 10 speed shifters - SL-M770-10
XT 10 speed rear mech - M773
XT 10 speed front mech - M770

I'm yet to buy the 10 speed cassette and chain.

The question is, do i need to buy a 2 x 10 specific front chainset, or can i use something like the Shimano SLX double 36/22??

You can use what you want as long as that's a long cage mech, the front mech is the triple along with the shifter.

The only thing to note is that the rings should be dyna-sys (10spd) to function 100%. But I have no experience of running a 10spd chain on mega9 rings.
