Hi all, need some help with my front mech which won't go on to the big ring. Its ok changing from small to middle but progressively gets stiffer whilst trying to change from middle to big. The limit screws are set correctly. On the small ring the cable is very slack. So plenty of travel of the lever before it clicks onto the middle ring. The Bike is a mmmBop with 73mm BB not the earlier 68mm. BB has one spacer on the drive side. Chainline looks more than 50mm! but this is not easy to check accurately. Cranks are SLX 3 rings. Mech is a Deore M531, shifters are dual control.. Cables move freely and are not gunked up. I have followed all the proceedures and guides. Had no problem with setup on the old frame. I'm not an expert but have built a few bikes so reasonably competent. I'm wondering whether there is a compatability issue? seat angle is outside the spec. Or maybe the dual control is shot. Any suggestions or am I being a spanner...

sounds like more tension in the cable is needed.

  • When I tried this before the indexing was way out of sync. Perhaps I had too much tension. Cheers Nick think I will try again from scratch...
