Fitting spd cleats to diadora shoes

Hi, well I am having trouble fitting spd cleats to my new diadora xtrail evo shoes and need some advice. On the sole there is a built in plate with 4 holes, the back two holes are the ones i need but the the front bolt holes are longer and stops the cleats engaging with the pedals. There was no instructions with the shoes on how to fix this. Looks to me as if I need to turn the plate 180 degrees but dont know how to do this. I know this sounds odd but hopefullly someone will know what I mean. This pic shoes what I mean
Cheers

What pedals? If they have a platform looking at your shoes you might need to take a Stanley knife to the soles and cut away some of the tread.I've had to do this with my last 2 pairs.
Turning the plate 180degs probably won't achieve anything but if you want to try it you'll have to remove the insole of your shoes to do so.0 -
move the plate to where you want it to be.
it does move."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

I guessing one of 2 things are causing the problem.
a) The rear of the fixing plate is standing a bit proud inside the shoe & just need pushing down (or insert a bolt loosely & pull) to get to the same length as the front.
b) The shoes came with a rubber cover bolted over the cleat holder & your trying to use those shorter bolts instead of the longer ones that came with the cleats.
Rotating the plate should only be necessary if you've rounded the threads changing cleatsStatistically, Six Out Of Seven Dwarves Aren't Happy0 -
I am still having hassle with these cleats, thanks for any advice so far but as its difficult to explain i have uploaded photos to show what the problem is. The plate that holds the cleats has 4 bolt holes, the front two are longer than the rear and have an external thread, the rear ones have an internal thread. there is no problem moving the plate up and down. The problem is I can fit my spd cleats to the rear holes but the front screws stop the cleats engaging with the pedals, which are double sided wellgo, there is plenty space on the soles for the pedals. i hope this makes more sense.

I'm pretty sure that there is two small Allen headed screws in the front two holes.
Just take them out and use those holes.0 -
