  • A deore is about as normal as you get - in what way is it different.

    Directional?

You need the rotor holding system to be on the caliper side.
  • take a look at this link, , this is the rear where as mines is for front, as you can see its not as normal as you can get, look at the holes

heres the only pic i can find of the front hub, its an old ebay link

  • But why would you buy something you have no idea how to build. You'll struggle to work out the required spoke lengths ect.

Shimano have a habit of fads and I think this falls into that.

Normal is flanged hubs with a j-bend spoke - it's been like that for years and is unlikely to change much into the distant future either.

why would i buy it? 1) it was cheap. 2) i want to build a wheel (cheap) to practice. 3) it was listed on here as a shimano deore hub, not listed as directional. now then, as its a fad and not that common then its pretty safe to assume i wasnt expecting it to be directional, as it is, and not flanged.

thats pretty much how it came into my posession

it is no different to build than any other except working out the lengths needed can be a bit harder if you dont have the required info.

you still have an outer and an inner spoke.
