Silly Brake Replacement Question?

Hi there,
So the time has come to replace the brake pads on my Spesh Sirrus.. It has V-brakes.
I was hoping to get some kool-stop Salmons which I keep reading so much about.
Are these compatible with V-Brakes? Or do I need V-brake specific pad/cartridge blocks? I only ask because on my lbs's website, "V-brake" is listed as its own section, along with caliper and cantilever etc.
I take it the whole of my brake block needs discarding, including the shoe/housing? I think this is my problem, I am very confused about the terminology. I understand that a pad slides into a shoe, (are these even relevant to V-brakes?) but what is a cartridge or block in that case? And ultimately, are you only able to use kool stops etc with better brakes e.g. dual pivot cantilever?
Many thanks

Koolstops come in calliper, canti and V-brake variants (yes, I know V-brakes are a type of cantilever brake).
As you have V-brakes, what you will want are these:
V-brake raplacement pads
but you'll need shoes to install them into.- - - - - - - - - -

Your brake housing probably won't be able to take new blocks, so you probably need a complete set. I got these:

Ultimately, they're not worth the money. I also got some of these:

And they're just about as good really. In both cases I had to play around with the stack height of the various washers to get the profile right, so keep every washer you can!
Cables are crucial too, and check the condition of your rims.Sometimes parts break. Sometimes you crash. Sometimes it’s your fault.0 -

thanks,, with these ones, will the holders be re-useable with new kool stop inserts? and how about these, http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/koolstop-koo ... rc=froogle the holder does not appear to have the same detachable part at the end, would they still be re-useable?
Many thanks0
