Help with identifying my frame and spec suggestions

I've not been into bikes for ages and i'm lucky enough to have been given a frame and some other random bits with it.
I've done some digging around and all i can find out is that its a DMR exalt 2008 16" in white.
The only pictures the world of the interweb throws up don't look like my frame.
As you can see its got a step(?) in the crossbar. All info points to the exalt being a jump/freeride frame but the geometry of my frame looks to go against that.
Whatever i can find out about it will determine how i build it, i would like to put something together for freeride over the next few months if it lends itself to that. I've not got a fortune available to sink into it so it'll take me a bit of time to finish it, i don't want to put the cheapest parts on and compromise on quality and weight.
I've got a Mavic disc 729(?) wheel already so i need advice on a reasonable spec without spending ££££'s
All help appreciated.

I don't think that cross bar means it's FR/Jump bike as that design is inherently weaker than pure triangles.
No disc mounts either.0 -
The geometry doesn't look like it would suit a jump bike either to me.0

It looks a little like a Pace frame (like a 325-5 without the swopouts). Could be an older model?0

IMO, get rid of it, you can't use the rim/wheel you have due to it being a disc only rim, and the frame only has v-brake mounts, so you can't run discs. You can buy disc adapter/converter (about 35 quid - A2Z) but how good it actually works is another thing.
Just looks like a cheap run of the mill frame, or a pretty old one due to no disc tabs.0 -
I didn't even notice the v-brake bosses
Yep, I'd probably get rid of it for the purposes you want a frame for.0 -
Looks like you've got a women's bike frame.
Notice the similarity with the frame shape:

I think you'll find the men's versions look just the same.I don't do smileys.

Not quite, the men's versions of those models have straight top tubes:

Sorry never really looked at Giants. I have a Kona with a top tube like that, and my previous Marin HT was similar.

Thanks for the replies, the only thing i can assume is that this frame was just in the box.
Heres some more pictures if they help.
I do have a number embossed on the bottom of the frame presumably some sort of serial number0 -
The frame number is under the BB, if you post that someone may recognise the format.

Simon
Number is M64600331
If it turns out to be any old frame as i suspect i'll throw some 2nd hand stuff on it and use it with my sons trail-a-bike, rather than my other bike.0 -
its very very similar to a haro escape frame i used to own, similar to the one here.

in fact my guess is that its definately one, they have exactly the same seatstay layout as your frame and no disc mounts, mine was a 1999 escape 7.3 60mm forks back then, i would put anything bigger than 80mm on yours, good bike back in the day used to handle really well, wouldnt jump it though! there u go frame identified!who cares?0 -

Looks to be it, thanks for the info. I'm not fussed about a jump bike especially I just wanted to get it all together and find out the origins of the frame. As it was a freebie with a few saleable parts it will make for a nice runaround. Will be an excuse to upgrade my other bike and transfer the parts over.0 -
Good spot K2, I can't see a single difference between the 2, would make a nice enough trail bike if your happy with V's.

id put some rigid lightweight forks on it (possibly carbon) and with some selective speccing it would be very lightweight, mine originally weighed 26lbs with r/s judy c i could imagine it being a very cheap rigid rocketship!who cares?0

My thinking was along those lines, i don't want to bog it down with cheap or heavy bits, may put it on city slickers and single speed it, just pull it out of the shed and run to work. As a blank canvas i've got a few options, something to work on through the summer, will ultimately spend its time towing my son so i can keep my other bike just for me.0
