Hi
Need to replace a broken Deore disc brake lever and was wondering whether I could put a same year (http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mobi ... elID=23097) lever on instead ?
Will it work with the Deore caliper and is the hose the same type ?
Also, was going to get the shop to sort but have started thinking about doing it myself as like to learn these things. Is it straightforward and are there any links to help ? I couldn't find any so thought possibly not ... !
Cheers

Pretty sure it will work fine - I have certainly used LX calipers with XT dual control levers in the past.
Swapping should be fairly straight forward. You may need a new olive and insert but you would probably get away with the existing ones.
Procedure is - slide rubber hood down hose at lever end thus exposing 8mm bolt. Undo bolt and pull! Then reverse process on new lever, using tiny amt of grease on olive. Then bleed.0 -
shimano lever assys and calipers are mixable. just make sure the ends are correct."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Ta for info.
As caliper is Deore, do you think i'lI notice any benefit by replacing lever with XT?
Reviews say it's a good lever but not sure how much of that is pairing with correct caliper ?0 -
nope. might feel a bit different.
but as there are many many XT levers assys out there it might be the same as your Deore lever."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
