E-13 DRS, SLX & Trek Scratch - Not Working!!!

I have just attempted to install a new e*thirteen DRS onto my Trek Scratch with SLX crankset.
It's ISCG OLD so mounts via the BB.
When I installed it without an extra spacer, the cranks fitted back on fine BUT the small chainring and the chain rubs on the plate of the DRS... not exactly ideal.
So I took it all off again and this time put a spacer between the DRS backplate and the BB cup. I put the drive side crank back on and the chainring didn't rub and the chain line improved BUT I then tried to put the non-drive side crank arm on and there wasn't enough spindle for the arm to go onto so the pin wouldn't locate into it's hole.
What should/can I do? It clearly needs the spacer on the drive side but the cranks won't fit?!

so how many spacers?
it the device is in there as well count it as a spacer."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Right ... with just the device - so 1 spacer - the chain/chainring bolts rub on the DRS backplate ... with the device and a spacer - 2 spacers - the chain/chainring bolts do not rub on the DRS backplate BUT the non drive crank arm doesn't fit on properly ...0

a little more info that my help:
The BB is 73mm and it seems should only have one spacer.
I have also checked and the DRS should be compatible with the bike ... so is it just the cranks?0 -
should have some 1mm and 1.5mm spacers very soon to try and sort it out.0
