Fitting New Derailleur

Hello,

This could just be me being thick but I'm having problems installing a new rear dérailleur.

I've attached it to the hanger as per instructions but the guide pulley is nowhere near the smallest sprocket on the cassette (cable has yet to be attached) and will not move any further towards it even if manually pushed without the chain on. Most dérailleur's would move towards the sprocket and then spring back.

Here are several images-

The dérailleur is a Shimano SLX M662 SGS. The installation instructions and diagram are here-

Can anyone help point me in the right direction?

Thanks,
Jonathan

looks like the pin is on the wrong side of the stop.

remove and look at the bolt area there is a stop bump on it the look at your first shimano link and look at the pic of the install.

    Thanks for your reply.

I've had another look a it again tonight and can't see any other way it could go on. It also seems to comply with the instructions. I can only assume that that must be the way it is designed to work.

Does anyone else have the same dérailleur that could check whether theirs behaves the same way?

    Thanks,
    Jonathan
