Well in is Media PC build time again.
the AMD chip/board and BD player did not like each other.
so i spent about £350 on this lot.
well I had the 500Gb drive and the BD-HDDVD ODD already. and there is a remote in the case as well.
intel i3-540
ASUS P7h55-m
2 X 2Gb
an Antec case of some sort.
and a 350W PSU
should be fun.

well i know PowerDVD is crap.
My new NAS if flakey.
a 2Tb USB external drive costs the same as a E-sata 1Tb external drive.
and i like my new Monitor."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

E-SATA is WAAAAAAAAY faster though.
I was just wondering (not wandering, I thought you were meant to be dyslexic, how'd you pick that up? ) what you meant by XBMC0 -
i can proof read but not my own stuff.
XBMC is just a media playback interface, not what i was really wanting. but quite nice."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

That's what Sony are calling their PS3 interface, isn't it?
Media centre has been using a very similar thing for a long time.0 -
nothing to do with Sony.

OOOOOH, that. I have a vague memory of coming across that a few years ago.0

tried MediaPortal?
It started life based on XBMC & in my (limited) experience has much better TV card & PVR integration. I haven't given any other MC software much of a go since installing Mediaportal, it does what I need in spades and is pretty stable.
Have you got a remote for your MC PC? You'll never leave your sofa again. :-)
Edit... Not to forget all the plugins you can get, eg RSS integration (BBC News / forums etc) Shoutcast internet radio streams, you tube, real fm, wikipedia. .. all from your remote control0 -
played with media portal years ago.....
yes the box cam with a remote.
no seats were this one will be."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
