Chingford to Victoria

Looking at a new job in Victoria (London) and wanting to commute by cycle. I am near Stansted airport so probably to far on a daily basis. However was thinking of the following
• Drive to Chingford
• Take cycle route 1 to the Canary Warf area
• Take either main roads direct to Victoria or go south of the river and take route 5 and then cross back over river.
Any thoughts ? or anyone use a similar route ? if so how safe is route 1 if I am cycling home after dark ?
Thanks for any help

What about from Wanstead to Victoria?0 -
From Chingford it's easy to jump onto the River Lea (or rather the tow path next to it) which will get you, traffic free, to somewhere like Mile End/Victoria Park - you can then just pick your route heading west.0
