The wrong type of grit

Apparently, at least in Kent, the mixture of gritting salt and sand used to conserve supplies has been blamed for bike damage. Has anyone else noticed this?

No-one wanted to eat Patagonia Toothfish so they renamed it Chilean Sea Bass and now it's in danger of over fishing!

As no councils now 'grit' but just salt, not sure why they would be using grit like components at all.......sounds like an urban myth to me!
