Any markings? Hub it came from markings?

Strange I thought I posted this in the workshop section ???

No markings on the hub apart from a tiny H F between the spoke holes (looks similar to that on the hub body), the wheels may have been from a Giant Trance 3 circa 2008, and are fitted with 32 Alex DP17s.

take it to a LBS and get it measured up.

    could be anything.

    find a bike shop then.

there are 100s of bodys out there. and many look just the same but are not.

unless you know exactly the make and model of the hub and from that you can find a part number you are not going to do this on line.

if it cam of a Giant then try a Giant dealer first.

  • looks very similar to my formua hub body, fits an 11mm alen key t remove and the bolt says in the hub body then its a frormula one,

some of the DMR range use the same fitment but use a 12mm allen key (old unbranded/quando hub uses one)

this is the email for 'autostrada' who are the uk distributer for Formula hib spares and Xero wheels (formula hubs are NOT connected to Furmula brakes!)

iirc a hub body was £20 posted and delivery was very quick, but make sure you let them know its Cone and Cup or Cartridge bearing (only listed as S8/9 in the techy docs) as obviously one wont work with the other and vice versa!

otherwise, any local Giant dealer will be able to get you one!

Thanks allthegearnoidea, confirms what I suspected. It was indeed an 11mm allen key. The Trances do seem to have had Fomula hubs (according to the Giant site). Much appreciated ...

  • Update ....

LBS (Giant dealer) said "Don't think we could get one, you'd be better with a new wheel"

Autostrada would send me one for £25 (steep to repair a crappy hub)

.... so I picked up a cheap second hand Shimano hub, and it's now become a teach yourself wheel building project.

I've just been looking for one of these only mine is to fit a Bontrager hub on a Trek and yes it is the same as Formula. My LBS charge £28 for one and I agree they are not that good.
