I'm looking to upgrade my wheels on a 2008 Spesh Allez Elite. They'd be for fitness riding and sportives (NOT commuting) and i want to spend up to £300 (ish), I'm 85kg. The new 2011 Mavic Ksyrium Equipes look good, but there is a good price on Easton EA70s at the moment too. Any views on which is better? Or any other ideas?

Just over your budget but I would recommend a pair of IRD Aero rims built onto Novatec Lite hubs for £318.
Pretty light, very strong and a 30mm deep aero rim. A great all round wheel.

Plenty of photos of the rims on this page

I'd look at these at £315 (10% off at checkout).

I have the Dura Ace version (better hubs) and they are fantastic wheels with a wonderful ride.
I've had the Ksyrium Equipes and Elites, and they were ok but not a patch on the Shimanos, nothing special at all, I preferred my cheap Shimano RS10 I think to the Equipes.
I would seriously rethink spending £300 on the Mavics unless your priority is an indestructible wheel. If you're after a nicer, more enjoyable riding experience I'd maybe look elsewhere, starting with the RS80s.

Thanks for the tip about the RS80s on Merline Cycles, Evil. But how do i get the 10% off at checkout? I don't seem to get the discount????0

Merlin's discounts ended yesterday. Try Ribble their sale finishes Wednesday I think.
Ribble is cheaper for the RS80s anyway, even after the 10% disc.CAAD9
