They plan to use the money from the sale of Torres to buy Andy Murray.....
............They have never seen someone hit the net that often in 90 minutes!
sorry0 -

There was something in the air at night the stars were bright..... Fernando!
Sorry! :oops:0 -
All I can say is I'm glad Liverpool had their bid for Carroll turned down. £30 million??? Give Suarez a chance as the replacement for Torres and take the offer of Sturridge from Chelsea.0
-
Suarez not a replacement for Torres, they are different positions for a start. Suarez more of a wide man than out and out striker. As for Sturridge, no thanks. That money for Carroll is stupid though. I would rather have Pachecho than Sturridge though.
As for Torres, lost a lot of respect for the man whether he stays or goes.
I hate deadline day, I wish the transfer windows were abolished and it was back to the old days where you sign them at anytime.
Oh and as for the Carroll bid, Liverpool have not made any confirmation that they made the bid either. Spurs were after him so this could be the toon's way of getting more money from them in a bidding war. There is never redemption, any fool can regret yesterday...

I thought the whole idea of buying Suarez was to start playing with two up front properly to support Torres. Maybe they should give N'gog a chance to prove his worth, up until now he has always been aware that no matter how well he plays he is only a stand in until Torres is fit. Wait until the end of the season rather than going out and buying someone out of desperation. There are already a load of strikers in the premiership that have bought by Liverpool and discarded under Benitez' bizarre transfer policies.0

Still a lot of rumours abound for £30-35m for Carroll. Utterly astonishing price for someone yet to even come close to winning anything of note, in fact he's hardly had a full season in the top flight. Madness.0

Agreed, hope that we are out of the running. That's silly money.0 -

They're saying it could even be more than £35,000,000!!! with add ons! Mike Ashley will be in that casino tonight! And laughing all the way to the bank tomorrow.0 -
carrolls on his way for talks just as torres is on his way to chelski
but is complete madness, as a liverpool follower, i dont want torres to leave, but i dont want someone who'd rather play for someone else so for 50mill i'd see him go...but then to spend 35mill of it on carroll???? that Damien Callioni fella needs to resit his math exams!Crafted in Italy apparantly0 -
Laughable...I would not bid again after 2 bids rejected.
Pross as for Ngog, he's just not good enough. Awful touch, slow and misfires in front of goal. Another Rafa flop. I see what you mean about Suarez, he was going to play just behind Torres apparently with Gerrard and him coming in off the right which would mean curtains for Kuyt (thank god)
Losing a lot of love for football lately. Well the top flight anyway. My folks are Carlisle United supporters and I have a soft spot for them and I'm inclined to get rid of my LFC ties and start following lower league football. There is never redemption, any fool can regret yesterday...

I do like Callioni, with garlic bread and a nice bottle of Barolo!0 -
£35 million for Carroll is ridiculous, there must be better strikers out there for that sort of cash? Bent is looking like a bargain all of a sudden! I gave up on premiership football ages ago, first result I look for now is Newport County rather than Liverpool!0

1638: I'm told there is no truth in the 'Charlie Adam to Man Utd' rumours. Apparently, Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston is refusing to answer calls from Liverpool about the Scotland midfielder... maybe that United story started when Kenny Dalglish phoned up pretending to be Sir Alex Ferguson instead?

For perspective...............apparently that is what David Villa is worth
Makes you wonder :?:None of the above should be taken seriously, and certainly not personally.0 -

Fair enough. If both transfers go through then I hope for Comolli's sake Carroll is a success as the Liverpool fans will be baying for blood if he flops. And it won't be King Kenny's blood.0 -
I can't believe it. The new number 9???There is never redemption, any fool can regret yesterday...

Carroll has handed in a transfer request which the Toon have accepted.0

I wouldn't say desperate! More like ambitious again. He's scored more goals than Torres this season. There is never redemption, any fool can regret yesterday...

Are you saying you would prefer Carroll to Torres?0 -
As a Newcastle fan I'll be disappointed to see Carroll go but £35 million is an offer we probably couldn't turn down given our financial circumstances (if it all turns out to be true). Pardew's "Carroll is not for sale at any price" speech was always utter bo**ocks so why say it in the first place. Us Newcastle fans aren't that stupid so why treat us llike mugs?
The most frustating thing is that we now have no time to replace him or strengthen our squad in general with the money. I can almost guarantee that the Ashley will pocket the money anyway and very little, if any of it, will be made available come the summer.
The two best things about our team this season were Hughton and Carroll, and it now looks like we will finish the season with neither.0 -
No, but I would prefer a player who wants to wear the red than be a chelski rent boy...There is never redemption, any fool can regret yesterday...

Brucey72, I do feel sorry for toon fans in all this. It's like torres situation but at least we had 3 days to sort something out. There is never redemption, any fool can regret yesterday...

35 million for a striker who got outscored in the championship by quite a few players last season?
That looks desperate to me. Their world-class striker wants to leave, and Anelka doesn't want to go to Liverpool.

Torres deal has broken down. Terry couldn't agree terms with his wife.0
