I think sometimes there can be confusion about the role of the star nut. Its only needed to pre-tension the headset until the stem bolts are tight, then it can be loosened and serves no purpose until the next time the headset/stem is adjusted.

You do not need oodles of force on the nut, and they don't need special tool to install either.
  • Evans shouldnt price match it if its a OE fork, and evans one isnt
    Cotic Soul
    Pearson Hanzo
    Airborne Zeppelin
  • I've just ordered a FSA Pig Ball Bearing from CRC for £16. Should be fine for now at least.

The fork listed on On one doesn't say it's an OE fork, I was just told that they get alot of OE forks in for cheap. So didn't want to purchase from there.

I did read up a little on the star nut and came to that conclusion, so i've not bothered with it. I'm assuming the above headet will come with everything i need (will be using the original spaces).

Think i found the part number for the x-firm spring i need for the 2011 recon silver. Listed in the 2011 spare part catalogue:

    11.4015.437.100 - Coil/Shaft Assy, X-Firm Black 100mm - 2010-2011 Tora/Recon XC Series 32mm (requires Top Cap Kit - Tora or Recon)

Just need to find somewhere that sells them, guessing TFtuning will be able to get there hands on them?
