Hey all,,,
My schwable Rocket ron & racing ralph are coming to an end of their life... Great tyres and they have both served me well on the rear of my bike... Gonna order another Ron from onone as they are in the sale, But it got me thinking to what is the fastest rolling xc tyre that actually can handle some trail stuff now and again

Maxxis Crossmark, Schwalbe Smart Sam or Conti Race King would be my top three.A Flock of Birds
+ some other bikes.0 -
i run conti race king 2.0 on my hardtail. great tyres0

+1 for crossmark but not as light as the ones you have.
What about small block8's? fast just not for mud0 -
Panaracer razer MX.
Surprisingly grippy and blisteringly fast! Certainly not a wet tyre though.0 -
The top contenders so far then are the race kings and crossmarks.....
Anyone had any experiance off the maxxis larsen tt?0 -

look at the prices. if you want folding then they're quite similar but the wire on (which i have) are a great price0 -
+1 great service from Nextday Steve is a top bloke0
-
+1 for the Crossmark silly fast as a rear I use it with an Ignitor on the front. Warning: they ain't great in the wet and then some.0

Crossmarks are way better than you'd expect them to be in the wet to be fair. Still not great but they're so fast you'd think they'd be suicide.
Kenda's Small Block 8 is another good one, the 2.1 is just as fast as a Crossmark (as far as I can tell anyway) but a bit grippier. Slightly weighty though, it's a fast trail tyre not a race tyre. Flipside of that is that they're tough, and they last forever.Uncompromising extremist0 -
have heard these are supposed to be Very fast rolling,

Smallblocks good. As are nextdaytyres. I can't speak for the mx models, but 2.1 razers come up small and feel lethal on the front. Alright on the back for fast shorter rides, but I'd always pick the small block given the choice.Rock Lobster 853, Trek 1200 and a very old, tired and loved Apollo Javelin.0

The intense micronobbly are insanely fast. But their grip is almost absent...0

I never got on with my Race Kings - squirmy on the corners no matter what pressure I tried, and they used to puncture something chronic (8 in one ride was my record). Switched to Ralphs and they seem much better tyres.0 -
Thanks guys... Got a ron and a crossmark on order to play with.... will let you know my thoughts!!!0
