Anyone know what the correct BB to go on a Ribble Sportive carbon frame? I have a Shimano UN 54, but this seems a little reluctant and I don't want to force things (or get the thread cut unnecessarily) Thanks

  • Assuming your frame has an English bottom bracket shell, the drive side has reverse threads, ie. you turn it counter clockwise to screw it in. But, I guess you know something as obvious as that.

All Ribble frames are standard 68mm shell with English threading - unscrew in the direction the cranks turn i.e. align wrench on BB tool towards front wheel and push down.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

Does the UN54 say '68' on it or '73'?

Have you greased all the threads liberally?

Sometimes the cups are stubborn and will not thread in that last couple of mm leaving a small gap at the bottom bracket shell. I have seen brand new bikes sold like this so so long as they are tight I don't see it as a problem.
