Squeeky brakes

My brakes are squeeking rather loudly...just wondered why? need a clean? Also any tips to keeping brakes in good working order, cleaning and such...?

    Brake blocks need 'toeing in'. And after the blocks wear flat, they need 'toeing in' again.

    Toeing in is careful positioning of the brake blocks so that they are at a slight angle to the rim, and so that the front of the block hits the rim first.
