I'd like to convert my mtb to singlespeed to give it a go. I understand I need a single sprocket on the rear and a chain tensioner - i've laready got those. However, do i need a new chain or a different type? And how can i cheaply adapt my crankset? I have a cheap singlespeed that i use for a city hack and it is clear that the chain is much thicker than my mtb chain.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Dedicated 3/32" and 1/8" singlespeed chains can be found here for very reasonable prices.
