Never used them, but some of the photos don't match the product description.

I've bought loads from SD, they are pretty reliable from my experience and cheap as chips

I got some karrimor lycra shorts from SD for 7 quid and they're great, comfy and don't seem worn at all so far despite 3 months of heavy use :)

The Sports Direct stuff may be decent, but the fact that its Karrimor means absolutely nothing. It doesn't mean you're getting a bargain....

Got some padded tights the other day for £10. Seem alright, though of course bibs would be better as imagine it will stay in place and no strings on your waist. The ones I got are a bit on a the small side too, so that contributes to them being pulled downwards a little.
  • Some of the stuff on encove doesnt look half bad...
  • Phobos High Visibility Rain & wind stopper Jacket £27 looks good value but would it be any good? Until someone trys and tests it it's a gamble when you could spend and extra £20 on something you know has good reviews? - Tempting though

I am getting tempted. You do have to wonder about the quality though.

Unsurprisingly cheap stuff can be a bit naff...I got some cheap bibshorts that i had to send back because the padding was crap. The best cheap stuff ive found so far is the ebay fakes, you are taking a risk...but my chinese 'Bianchi' bibs are great, by far the most comfortable shorts ive ridden.

+1 to the ebay chinese fakes - team bibshorts and jersey about 30 quid, got 2 or 3 the padding in the shorts is identical to that in shimanos costing 50(for just shorts) yeah theyre fakes ooh so what? me likey 8) if you go for it just double check the feedback scores.

  • They are on ebay...If people want to try something with the slightly extra protection of Paypal....

Been very pleased with my Rogelli Jacket (Rimini Soft Shell). Got via Ebay - but also have an online store (same prices)

Feedback for the other items all seem very positive...

I previously purchased a Shimano jacket/leggings from Ebay... but the jacket was pretty poor quality and really badly fitting.... and would have cost too much to post back to HK.

Rogelli obviously isn't as cheap as the HK items... the Soft Shell was £60 (rather than £50 for top & bottom from HK) but think it's worth paying that bit extra.

Will get a set of Bib tights (and shorts) soon(ish)... when I've justified replacing the HK ones :)

  • I'm a little tempted too. Might drop a little on a top, £15 or so isn't too bad to try them out.
  • I have the Karrimore stuff from Sports Direct, the short sleeve top at £5 is very good, as is the long sleeve top at £6, the waterproof at £12 is also good.

The tights I cannot get on with, I used Karrimors sizing advive on which I am a large & they are too short in the leg, the stirrups pull the crutch down & I feel very uncomfy.

Quite liked the look of the Tethys bid shorts & top in white so ordered some to see what they are like.

  • tell us when/if you receive them the quality and customer service
  • I'm secretly hoping that as they are white they will be slightly see through so when I go into pub/cafe on route the people who serve me will be "unerved"

Same here, to the point where I have to not use the leg loops things at all and just tuck them under the bottom of the log itself (I must cut them off one day). It means that they actually stop half way up my shins but for about £8 I can't complain.

What I have found though is that the Karrimor unpadded running tights are a completely different fit and are therefore much better. I wear them over my padded bid shorts and couldn't be happier. I think I paid £10 for those :)
  • I like the black and white bibs and long sleeve top anyone able to report back on fit and quality?

    I bought this:
    http://www.encove.co.uk/Bianca-Air-biki ... od_23.html

I only bought it because a) it was cheap and b) it matches my bike. The fit is fine and I'll see how it washes after a few times through. Can't really go wrong for £15 though. And if I throw it away after a season I'll just have to buy a new bike to match the tops I've already got.

    Quick delivery, too :D

  • Lidl have a cycling promo at present. L/S jerseys, Bib-tights and the usual mix of bits. Decent quality, cheap beyond words and a great returns policy (keep the receipt). When they're gone they're.....

  • I bought a set of the copies off ebay from China

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/262006449898?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&var=560803894642&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Those ones to be precise. I can't complain, they look great, padding is fine and they haven't faded in the wash (yet). Can't complain for £21 delivered. Infact, i'm that happy, i've just ordered my autumn set for £26.

Can report back when i get them with a verdict.
  • I ordered some china stuff through DHgate.com and as Diana Ross said "I'm Still Waiting"
  • Aldi's turn for a Promo on Thursday (24th). Seems to be plenty of winter stuff to keep you on the bike and off the turbo. Usual vfm, enjoy.
I fancy a pair of "lobster" gloves £8!?!

+1 on the aldi kit. Their gloves are my standards when the weather closes in. I have 8 pairs of gloves and its the Aldi standard that takes the brunt of it. Their jackets are good too. Not used their longs and shorts though.
