Speaking personally, im not planning on going for a ride, but im in full kit with my new merino skull cap and endura shoecovers on in front of a full length mirror , sideways on mmmmm looking good:....

My Italian is not sufficiently developed to answer this one with any degree of confidence. But, culturally it has to be correct. My Italian cycling club issues kit each year as part of the membership fee, and a rider is expected to wear it when on the bike. Mixing kit is definitely not the done thing, and if you forget to wear your club kit, then don't expect to be welcome on the weekend chain gang. Bikes seem to be always immaculately turned out.

i heard the word while watching a documentary on bbc 4 by rob penn on building the perfext bike. he was out cycling with some campagnolo employees..... those guys would not even be on their bikes unless theyed been posing in front of the mirror for a while...
