I have been trying to get a specialised allez 2010 model , but all sold out in my size ( I want sale price ).
I was looking at the GT 4 series down from 600 to 400 pounds, ( in Evans )
Should I keep lookin g or is this a good deal / spec bike for first timer.
Bike will be used for riding 2/3 rides per week to get fit and hopefully get the bug.

Hi, don't know where you are based but get yourself into an Evans shop if possible, the local one to me near Gatwick (Crawley) will let you spend an afternoon on any number of bike different sizes prices, all for the price of a credit card swipe, you can then see what does it for you, you can then buy there or shop on ebay to your hearts content !
Happy hunting

Evans is where I went for the allez , but hey had sold them all. ( 2010 )
They talked about the GT, but I had not researched the brand so was a tad cautious.0 -
GT has been around for many years, and was HUGE in the BMX scene in the 80's and 90s. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a GT, even though I haven't really looked into their bikes on the Road side, I'm sure they are built well.0

I have an allez sport which is also my first road bike,I picked mine up on eBay was a very good deal
Although I have nothing to compare it to it's a real quality built bike and is very fast, covers the ground well,I have a triple with a 10 speed rear cassette would of been a 9speed.
Cycling plus rated the allez the best first road bike grab a copy and have a read of it0 -
Price/asthetics aside - make sure you get the bike that fits YOU the best, not what fitted others well etc. A 54cm defy4, may have a completely different ride position for you than a 54cm allez.noste500 wrote:and hopefully get the bug.
...I wouldn't want you to be put off the sport from a bad experience of having a poorly fitted bike...although not catching the bug will save you lots of money....
Most professional bike shops will fit you properly, for free.Road: Felt AR0, Di2
Touring/commute: Dolan Multricross

I would do, but being a short arse, I'm struggling to find somewhere that stocks the right sizes!
Plus I'm getting it on the cycletowork scheme, so a little difficult to get professionally fitted without buying!0 -
for something out of the ordinary i bought a forme reve £650 lovely to ride very nippy handles well and pretty good spec. ive had mine nearly a year and no problem and about the same weight as the allez. just an idea. www.formebikes.co.uk2010 Forme Reve
