Hi all
I am looking at buying some knee pads, I was looking at 661 Evo but due to cash flow issues they are a bit too expensive. Has anyone got any ideas. I have looked at Race Face Ambush wich is about £80rrp but Wiggle are selling them at £30 which looks a good buy as they have the D30 insert.

Fit is really crucial otherwise they'll chafe or slip down. Or cut off the blood til your feet drop off
Buy a pair and if you don't like them send them back.0 -
I wear (not that often) 661 Kyle Strait. Have had a few nasty crashes in the past and they've saved me. They cover part of my shin too which is a bonus. £35 if you look around.0

Yup, Kyle Straits are brilliant and not too expensive. The clever materials- D30 etc- come into their own on elbows, shorts etc but I don't think they're so worthwhile on knee pads where conventional foam can give excellent movement anyway. Tried the D30 661 pads and they felt more restrictive, not less- though less bulky I think.Uncompromising extremist0

There are quite a few people who think that d30 is a fantastic marketing exercise for an OK product. Think Dyson, at the end of the day it sucks dirt, does it do it well, not really.
Conventional hard shell pads provide better protection against more kinds of impact.
d£0 might be great if you land on a flat surface, not so good when you land on the sharp edge of a rock. Why would I care about 150g of bike weight, I just ate 400g of cookies while reading this?0
