3 speed hubs - Shimano and Sturmey-A sprockets interchange?

I'm setting up my old mountain bike for commuting with a 6 meter top gear on a three speed Shimano hub (love them). Calcs indicate I need a 17 tooth rear. There aren't so many choices on eBay for Shimano sprockets and I was wondering if Shimano and Sturmey-Archer sprockets are interchangeable.
Thanks James

IIRC SA sprockets have 2 tabs to locate on the hub, not sure about Shimano. You have to consider the diameter of the tabs and orientation.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0

you can get cogs that are compatible with Sturmey-Archer, Sachs and Shimano geared hubs.
have a look

So I took a look at the SJCycles page, and realy liekd the look of this Sturmey Archer 3 speed sifter.

Which leads me to next question does any one know whether the cable pull lengths are compatible Sturmey Archer to Shimano, as I'd liek to use one on my Shimano hub.
Thanks again James0 -
nope they are not.
Or I dont believe they use the same ratios. I may be wrong but.
I know the Sram/Sachs use a different ratio to the shimano ones. the SA i am almost sure are different again."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
