How can I tell if my cassette is worn?

I have got a cassette that came with my second hand wheels & not sure how to tell if it's any good.
It has dug in to the free hub body on my pro 2 hub & I can't get it off so a new cassette will mean a new free hub body as well which I was hoping to avoid for a few months.

Steel cassettes do trash Hope hubs, you need one like an XT with and aluminium carrier. As for telling if it's worn, not easy by eye unless there's obvious damage. If your chain skips it's worn although it's likely to do that anyway unless the chain is fairly new. To be honest you'd be best off with a new cassette and chain whihc unfortunately means a new hub.
It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.

    I've bought a new bike....ouch - result

You don't say what cassette it is, but check try taking the small rings of individually (a bit of force won't make any difference if you are going to replace everything anyway, and see if the rest of the cassette will now come off. If not you can remove the pins and try each of the larger rings individually.
If you can get them all off you can probably reuse the hub.

But if you are not actually having problems, just leave it until you are and worry about it then.

Two chain whips and wiggle all the separate parts to unlock them.

As for wear, wrap a new chain around them and see how much it lifts off when you pull at the centre of the wrapped part.

This, you don't need a new freehub body!
