ive just started out cycling i have a trek 1.2 road bike and have only had it since november.

My chain ring teeth have been not completely rounded off but are squarish but just in parts of the full ring.

I`m not sure what im doing wrong i know its my gear changing.

if anyone can help me out would be great

i feel stupid

A good photo will help, I have a feeling you're describing something pretty normal. Chainrings often don't have a uniform profile all the way around the ring.

Almost certainly nothing to worry about, a lot of chainrings aren't uniform around but have a pattern to assist with shifting where a number of them are a different shape often looking worn. As people have said a picture will let people say for sure but it's very unlikely for chain rings to be worn quickly. Particularly before the cassette!

Not having booked my face I can't see that, but does it look something like this?

This is completely normal.. They become more pointy and shark's fin shaped as they wear (although it takes a long time - they are pretty tough).

Chain rings tend to last for a very long time (I've never replaced one and have two bikes with over 10,000 miles on each and little sign of wear).

I suspect it's just the machining looks odd as each tooth will be slightly different. The marketing machine says it helps smooth shifting which is probably true because it certainly isn't for good looks...
