I have a set of EA90 Aero wheels and am struggling to get hold of the R4 freehub that is recommended for the shimano set up. Is there an alternative that I can use instead? Its getting a little frustrating staring at a set of wheels I can't use!

    Tell me about it :D

I ordered one (8/9/10 speed type) from Wiggle last November when it was showing as expected in stock In December.
Since then the expected stock date has moved back to February and now March...ho hum, I might have one by Summer

Totalcycling also do them if you're after one quick, they are a bit more pricey though.

You could also try these guys http://www.extrauk.co.uk/product/detail/Easton/Wheel_Spares/5442/

Also if it's 10 speed only you need then Chainreaction have them in stock here:

  • Cheers, I tried TotalCycling too and they don't have the Shimano in stock till end of Feb! What configuration did you get then? mine came with the Shimano 10 speed hub already on as they didn't have the standard Shimano hub in stock?

If I'd known it was such a pain I would have gone for a different set of wheels as this is really annoying!

You should contact ExtraUK as they are the UK distributor ... if they can't help - contact Easton directly and see if they can help you get it sorted.

    Good luck

  • I've decided to send them back and go for a different brand because I can't be bothered waiting till end of march for parts.

    Cheers anyway all.

If you've not returned them already I would second contacting Easton direct.

They are a very friendly bunch and I got some preload adjusters from the US in double quick time (FOC).
At least they may be able to point you to UK stock.

I've had my wheels for a while (Bought Campag EA90SLX wheels ( at a good price) and fitted a Shimano 8/9/10 speed freehub). I am only ordering a spare/replacement freehub prior to the Summer...call me cautious :D

It's worth hanging on if you can as they are great wheels, can't wait to get mine on again when the good weather arrives.

I've been riding mine (EA90 SLX) through the winter - I like them too much to ride other wheels in bad weather. I know it may shorten their lives a little .... but I'd still rather keep riding them. :D

  • Sent email to Easton so I'll see what happens, hopefully can get them up and running as I've been looking forward to getting out on them for months!
